Catherine Okonkwo Appointed Deputy Lead Governor for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust

Message sent on behalf of Phil Hall, Chair of NHS Kingston and Richmond Foundation Trust on Catherine Okonkwo’s appointment as Deputy Lead Governor for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, following a formal election process.

Catherine Okonkwo - COMI Health

Dear colleagues,

I’m delighted to tell you that, subject to ratification, Catherine Okonkwo has been appointed as Deputy Lead Governor for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, following a formal election process.

Catherine, who has been a governor since 2020, will take up the reins from Bonnie Green, who as you know recently came to the end of her term following nine years supporting the Trust.

A former Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspector, Catherine brings a wide breadth of experience to the role.

She has previously acted as an interim CEO for a children’s hospice and is currently a patient safety partner for North East London ICB.

I’m confident that her skills and first-hand knowledge will help us to maintain a strong focus on quality improvement, safety and governance.

Commenting on her appointment, Catherine said: “As Deputy Lead Governor, I will bring a collaborative and proactive approach to supporting the Lead Governor and facilitating effective communication between the Board and the wider Trust membership.

“I was born at Kingston Hospital and witnessed my father pass away there. The care I’ve seen showcased by staff is second to none. I am passionate about the Trust’s vision and I’m eager to contribute further to its success and continuous improvement. I hope to utilise my experience and skills to strengthen governance and support the Trust’s future growth.”

I hope you will all join me in welcoming Catherine to her new position, which is a key role supporting our Lead Governor, Cathy Maker.

The election results will be formally ratified at the Council of Governors meeting on 28 January 2025.

Thank you.

Phil
